"Pay attention class. Now, as I was saying, when a quark meets it's opposite, they annihilate one another by forcing the other to implode. This is because as they cannot touch one another, and as they are traveling at near light speeds and the attraction then is so great by now, that the easiest thing to do is to self destruct by E=MC2. The shattered remains recombine to form another quark which drifts away from the collision, as we can see in this next slid, propelled by the energy released. If you look closely, you'll see that the newborn quark has already left the scene, but the trail of energy it left behind is still quite visible in this false colour image
